Family Law Investigation Services

BKA works closely with family law counsel by providing difficult to obtain information pertaining to child custody issues, cohabitation agreement violations, financial investigations, and hard serve subpoena service.

Child Custody Issues

We are frequently retained to investigative and document the suitability of a parent in contested custody cases as well as determine the character, integrity, and reputation of a new significant other who may be in regular contact with the children.

Cohabitation Agreement Violations

One of the most difficult of family law matters, we are very well versed in establishing cohabitation agreement violations. Contingent upon the client’s monthly expenditure for spousal support and the duration of terms, cohabitation investigations are a worthwhile investment toward the reduction or elimination of support payments when violations of an agreement are suspected.

Financial Investigations

We are often retained to locate the assets of an opposing party in a domestic relations matter.

For more than two decades, we have successfully traced both personal and corporate assets around the globe including previously unidentified bank accounts, brokerage accounts, out of state property, motor vehicles, boats, airplanes, and equity positions in corporations and partnerships.

When discovery and/or the issuance of subpoenas are viable options, we analyze documents such as bank statements, cancelled checks, brokerage account statements and credit card statements.  The review and cross referencing of such documents can identify a multitude of assets as well as travel, expenditure, and lifestyle patterns, all of which often paint a complete picture.

Should the need arise, we also maintain a strategic alliance with a well known investigative forensic accounting firm headquartered in Chicago with additional offices in Ohio, North Carolina, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania.

Hard Serve Subpoena Service

We become involved in subpoena matters when anticipated avoidance of service is an issue or when standard subpoena service efforts fail due to intentional avoidance. Our success rate for serving those avoiding service is nearly 100%.
