Nursing Home InvestigationsBruce Kingsland & Associates is the only firm in Ohio uniquely qualified to conduct internal complaints of abuse and neglect on behalf of nursing home owners with services designed to minimize risk potential under the new abuse and neglect, misappropriation of funds reporting requirements by the State of Ohio. An abuse or neglect investigation request can be acted upon within several hours of receiving such a request, 24 hours a day, including holidays. Unless otherwise requested, the minimum protocol for conducting the investigation includes interviews and recorded statements of the reporting party, the resident involved, the employee(s) involved, and any witnesses identified. Photographs and/or videotape will also be taken of pertinent evidence. A detailed, narrative report accompanied by gathered documentation is prepared within 72 hours from the initiation of an investigation due to state and federal mandates on reporting. In the event that a completed detailed, narrative report is unable to be provided within this time frame due to the scope of the investigation, a preliminary report will be made available by the designated BKA project coordinator. For purposes of keeping the information confidential, it is suggested the report and any associated documentation be directed to in-house or outside legal counsel. The project coordinator will meet with nursing home management upon request or a minimum of once monthly, to discuss investigations conducted that month, personnel and residents associated with the complaint(s), any emerging trends, and solutions to any negative trends identified. What makes us unique is that many of our investigators have worked closely with state and federal regulatory agencies investigating patient abuse, neglect, and misappropriation issues in the past, and maintain professional contacts with these agencies. As an additional service, we provide state qualified geriatric registered nurses to conduct a detailed clinical evaluation of our abuse or neglect investigation and also employ state certified experts to provide in-service training for your staff on various topics related to resident rights and health care.
